Great conference in Christchurch and a FANTASTIC New Zealand holiday!

Blogged under Personal,Uncategorized by DrJean on Tuesday 16 November 2010 at 11:44 pm

I just got home from a two weeks trip to New Zealand, having attended the Trans-Tasman Endodontic Conference in Christchurch. The 3-day conference had almost 300 delegates mainly from Australia and New Zealand plus a handful of others who decided to travel many many hours to be there, namely people like me!

We had a great time of learning from some very well known speakers from all Australasia,Europe and USA.

My dear husband,TC,came along( to be my bodyguard,as usual :))

After the conference we went for another 10 days of proper holiday.

One of the highlights of our trip was a planned 3-day alpine hike,or what the New Zealanders call tramping, on the Routeburn Track, one of the many Great Walks in New Zealand. The Routeburn Track traverses 32 kilometres of Mount Aspiring and Fiordland National Parks, part of South West New Zealand  World Heritage Area, and is administered by the Department of Conservation on behalf of the New Zealand public.

We carried everything that we needed for 3 days and 2 nights in our backpacks and we slept in sleeping bags in Department of Conservation huts. We walked on tracks in the forest, climb rocky paths, crossed unbridged streams, walked through snowy paths and in the rain(and got our boots really wet and muddy!) and even walked past a waterfall! Words and even pictures are not really able to fully describe the experience and the fabulous views that we encountered over the 3 days. We can only tell each other that we will be back to do more of these beautiful walks!

Teeth grinding-increasingly a common problem

Blogged under Uncategorized by DrJean on Wednesday 12 May 2010 at 5:51 pm

Some time ago,(well,it was a LONGGG time ago…very embarassing that I have not been updating my blog for ages)I posted some information about teeth grinding.
It is something that is becoming so common in this society.
I took a picture recently to show how severe it can be.
This is a night guard that is barely 9 month old,the wearer is a young female adult in her early thirties. She wears it every night and she realised that it’s got holes in it.

Well,in this case,we had to make a her a new night guard…
