Its the end of the year…again!!
I just realised that I have not blogged for over 2 months(just posted one a moment ago
),and before you know it,the year 2009 is just hours away.
The year has gone past so fast and looking back, again,I am thankful for the many people, relationships and happenings in 2008.
We have had lots of fun and laughter here at iSmile.I am so thankful for and proud of my team. They have worked hard and showed much dedication in their daily responsibilities.Without them,I would be quite incapacitated.
We took time off recently to go for a holiday together with our respective families,to Langkawi.
Here’s the gang at the Langkawi International Airport, all raring to go.

Of course, feasting, err I mean eating is a priority!

We did some touristy stuff like going on the boat ride to the mangrooves to visit the fishing villages, the bat caves and watch the famous eagles of Langkawi .We also took the cable car up to the highest point in Langkawi.Quite awesome!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Buka Puasa
Hari Raya Aidil Fitri has come and gone. In the busyness of it all,we still found time to organise a Buka Puasa (breaking of fast) party during the month of Ramadhan.

Good food and good company

We love celebrations!
I love celebrations.I would jump at any opportunity to celebrate. My children will be able to tell that we celebrate quite a bit at home. Not just birthdays ,anniversaries or festivals. We went for MacDonalds(which is a treat to my children) when my daughter got the “Most Helpful Student” award in her 4-year-old kindie class. We went for ice cream when my older son participated in his first Sports Day event. When my husband and I completed our first 10km run,we celebrated,of course.
Naturally, this culture of celebration has rubbed off at work.Apart from the occasional meals we organise,we would steal some time at work to sing birthday songs and blow candles for one another in our little pantry.

Caper Diem! and a very happy New Year to all.

“Buka Puasa!”
Last week, our team, together with our respective family members went for some yummy food at a spanking new restaurant in SS2,PJ called Greenwood Cafe.In the spirit of “muhibbah”(racial unity),this was meant to be buka puasa(breaking of fast during this Ramadhan month) event for Siti and Idah, who are Muslims.
Since we were a large group(17 of us) of people descending upon them,I got hold of ther menu and got the orders to be faxed over to them earlier in the day. So,by the time we got to the restaurant,we just sat down ,ordered our drinks and before we knew it,all the food started to be served.Fantastic idea!!
We had so much fun together. The food was good and it was served in relatively large portions and the deserts were simply superb. We had a good time and needless to say,we were the loudest bunch of people in the entire restaurant

Our first anniversary
One year has passed by.ONE YEAR!!! It feels like I just got started at iSmile.
It has been a fulfilling year for me,both as a dentist, and as an individual who wants so much to have a balanced family and work life.I still wish I can spend more time with my four kids though and it scares me to see them growing up so fast.Nevertheless,I am thankful for the current circumstances.
Naturally, one year anniversary calls for celebration.I brought my team and their husbands for Brazillian food(apa tu???) at Bossanova in Parkroyal Hotel, downtown.
The food was interesting. The buffet table had a large spread of appetizers and salads. The grill had 13 variants of meat and seafood, which was served at our table by chefs in their tall hats, holding HUGE skewers and knives.
The ambience was nice and we had these 2 lady crooners belting out jazzy and upbeat numbers. There was a dance floor, supposedly for the diners to salsa and samba.Suddenly, all of us decided that our feet had turned to lead
We had a blast!!and we took lots of photos(but of course!)

My fantastic team and their wonderful husbands!

The iSmile team-my colleagues and friends
One of the factors that make our work enjoyable is when we have good work mates. And I have to say that my fellow colleauges are a delight to be with.Everyone is so different in their own way and yet when we get together for work there is a synergy that exists and it enables every single one of us to perform our work well.
Over the weeks and months,we have become very good friends with one another. We not only work together;we eat together,we laugh together,we even lend our shoulders to one another to cry on.

I truly appreciate them for their good attitude towards work. They are always so ready to give their best and no one is afraid to do more than they need to;Elaine at the front desk,Siti and Kathy in the surgery.Even Davina, who is new and working on a temporary basis while waiting to further her studies, has caught on to the work attitude that comes so naturally from everyone in the team.
I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful team at iSmile.

New Year celebration with the iSmile family
Last Sunday the 7th January 2007,the iSmile team with their respective spouses, who have been great and supportive, gathered at the Eastin Hotel,Petaling Jaya for the International Buffet Hi-tea.It was a time of fun and fellowship for all of us,to eat and to chat and to laugh together.
The spread was pretty impressive and we were there from 1pm to 5pm,eating,not all the time, but well….most of the time!
A toast to ourselves, for good health and enjoyment in all that we do.

We even had a clown to entertain us.

That’s Indonesian Gado-gado

and that’s Malaysian rojak

The Indian fish head curry deserves special mention.Really quite superb!

Desserts, for whatever little room left in our poor overworked stomaches.

Result of too much good food.

We had a great time.I am very blessed to have a wonderful team who have become like family to me.

Durian Party!!
After more than 2 months running my own dental practice,I have had the privilege to know many different people.
My various dental suppliers have become friends to us at iSmile. We have also had patients who came and after having their dental treatment done, referred their family and friends to us.
We took the opportunity during this durian season,to hold a durian party for the various people we wanted to appreciate.
We had other fruits as well,as some were not exactly mad about durian as others.
There was mangosteen,rambutan,jackfruit,duku langsat,watermelon and honeydew.Quite a fruit feast!
Those who love durians were full of ” mmm”s and “aaah”s when savouring the fruits.
We had D2,D24 and Mau Sang Wong. Those are the various species of durian that we had.The amazing thing about durians is that every fruit has its distinct taste and flavour.
Durian,anyone?
